PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Two words for you: good luck. Akutagawa, to begin with, isn't much of a hugger. He's stoic, stiff, and not really approachable, and anyone who gets too close to him is most likely going to be interpreted as a threat more than anything else. Don't get too close to him if you value your life or if you can guarantee that he trusts you enough to allow you to get that far.
In all honesty, he's probably pretty touch-starved, but it'd be a nice cold day in Hell before he'd own up to it. He hasn't exactly experienced much affection in his life, so when it's expressed from someone - anyone - who he cares enough about to value that it's there, his reaction is befuddlement mixed with anxiety. How is he supposed to react? Kindness? Ew. He doesn't get it. With time, he'll try to get it, but don't count on it too early. Boy is also rail-thin so he's kinda weird to hug but he'll do it.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Now here's something Akutagawa is more used to. Being a mafioso, Akutagawa is rather adjusted to the idea of physically roughing someone up. He has his reputation as the 'Black-Cloaked Hellhound' for a reason, and it's basically that he's left a trail of corpses in his wake and he feels no shame about it (even if he very much should). He's relentless in battle and can take a lot of punishment, surprisingly.
His primary weapon is his special ability Rashomon. This will be detailed later, but to put it simply, Akutagawa can control clothing. That's his power. So his long jacket is long for a reason, and he has several forms he's gotten adjusted to using with it. There's hints he can get even stronger with it, but he just literally isn't creative enough. He's improving with time, but he needs that time. Give him time and he'll grow even more violent! Yay(?!)
Hand-to-hand is far less his style, but he can manage. I HC that he's probably been trained a bit in hand-to-hand and firearms alike just in case. He's in the mafia. Who knows when you might need to resort to fighting without your powers? He's far less equipped to do so, though, and that presents an opening for any opponents. Your best strategy when fighting Akutagawa is to nullify Rashomon somehow, and then he's in far more dire straights.
And yes, he's the kind of guy to resort to physical violence more often than talking disputes out. A certain weretiger has called him 'The Lawnmower' for a reason (and he's taken no offense/almost agreed). Brrrrr grind people up brrrrrr.
ROMANCE/FLIRTING: Hahahahahahahaha again good luck. Akutagawa does not know what he's doing in this department now or ever. He's an emotionally stunted mafioso who has hardly ever developed feelings for anyone beyond 'useful', 'not useful', and 'PLEASE PRAISE ME (Dazai)'. So romance to him is basically not even something he considers (but is always fun to play around with for him for this exact reason).
I play Akutagawa as Bi but with a male lean - I'll be honest and say right here and now that Akutagawa/Higuchi is kind of a NOTP for me, I'm sorry Higuchi RPers out there, I just can't see it. That having been said, his actual preferences in a person tend to be high intellect, playful nature used to cover up said intellect, desire to do good hidden by complex morality chains, not afraid to tell him to stay in line...
If this reminds you of anyone, there's a reason for that. Yes, his preferences amount to 'Dazai/Dazai-like' to begin with. No, this is not healthy. Akutagawa goes into most relationships craving praise he's never gotten from the person he idolizes beyond reason, and it's honestly a good idea to let him unravel from that first. (Otherwise, you'll get a lot of slanted worship-like adoration and it's honestly troubling.) Of course, if someone in this category is able to get him to see reason, that's all the better, but they'll have to make it perfectly clear 'I'm not someone to be worshipped' first.
Akutagawa is capable of developing interest in others outside this category, but overall it just takes a lot of work to get anywhere with him. Someone who challenges him is another good one - he's someone who can get overly invested in the whole 'only one allowed to defeat you' gimmick. For better and for worse. Unexpected kindness can also surprisingly get to him entirely because he just...doesn't get it. He'll probably be suspicious of that kind of person at first, but eventually he might grow to treasure them.
Akutagawa, when in a relationship, essentially goes Persona level 'RYUNOSUKE AKUTAGAWA would now DIE FOR YOU!'. That's kind of something inherent about him - he's self-sacrificing and protective, which has to be managed to a reasonable extent. He'd also kill for his partner. Please let him kill for his partner. (Of course, said partner could quite also possibly be the only person to wean him off of his bloodlust tendencies, but that depends on who they are.) He also takes a great interest in his partner's own interests, because he wants to be by their side very often. (This may also result in him being greatly out of his depth in certain areas - if his partner is more...modern than he is, unfortunately, he can very easily become 'how do you do, fellow kids'.) Dating Akutagawa is kind of like giving a dog a forever home. He's loyal, he barks a lot, he'll sleep at your feet if that's where you want him, and he'll bite anyone who threatens you.
He's a dog-like person who loves mischievous cat-like people the most.

Akutagawa is demisexual to an extreme to the point where even he goes 'huh? sex? right, that's...that sure is something people do' and then after his first wet dream about someone else sits up in bed utterly confused like 'oh, that...huh. huh.' He just...doesn't get it until he's already into someone. So don't expect any random hookups out of him because he just really doesn't understand and if anyone shows interest in him purely sexually, they'll probably be given a decent sized berth. Or he'll pretend like it doesn't exist (which is kind of his strategy for dealing with any unrequited affections, I'm so sorry Higuchi).

MEDICAL INFORMATION: Akutagawa has a disease infecting his lungs - due to his lifestyle at the ports, his lungs have been damaged by a lot of smoke inhalation, thus he coughs sometimes and may even occasionally cough up blood. He has no idea how long he has. Still, he refuses to let that weaken him. Lmk if you wouldn't like this to come up in a thread - I'll be keeping mentions brief, but it's part of his character.
